Leaving a Message

When you leave a message or email us, please tell us:

  1. Your name

  2. Your phone number

  3. Your appointment details (clinic, date, time)

  4. The best time for us to call you back

  5. Whether it is safe to say that NYAAF is calling when we leave a message.

A volunteer case manager will return your call or email within 48 hours. All calls and emails are confidential and any information you provide is stored in our secure database. NYAAF supports 100% of callers, either through direct funding or connection to other resources (such as Medicaid referrals). If you are eligible for other resources, we will work with you to ensure you are able to access the care you need.

  • If you need to make an appointment for your abortion, please visit abortionfinder.org or ineedana.com where you can locate healthcare providers who offer abortion services in New York State and across the country. If you are seeking abortion care in New York City, you can call the NYC Abortion Access Hub at 1-877-NYC-AHUB (1-877-692-2482).

  • If you are seeking a medication abortion in New York City, NYC Sexual Clinics are your best option. Free or low-cost medication abortion (abortion pills) is available at the Jamaica, Morrisania, and Central Harlem NYC Sexual Health Clinic sites. Call 347-396-7959 for clinic appointments.   • New York requires that both public and most private health insurance cover abortion care.

    If you have insurance regulated by New York state, it should cover your abortion. If you do not have insurance and you are a New York State resident, you may qualify for Medicaid.

    Medicaid in New York covers the full cost of abortion care. You can be eligible for Medicaid regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Visit https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/ or call 1-855-355-5777 to get enrolled. The enrollment process will take between 30 to 60 minutes, and if you are approved, you will be able to use your Medicaid to cover the entire cost of an abortion within 48 hours of signing up.

  • The National Abortion Helpline (NAH) supports low-income people across the country. We often work with them to split the costs of procedures for callers who are eligible. Call them at 1-800-772-9100 or chat https://prochoice.org/patients/naf-hotline.

    If you are not a New York State resident or you are not having your abortion in New York, visit the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) at abortionfunds.org to find your local fund.
